Manager, Peer to Peer Fundraising

1 Year Contract Position – Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY

To manage the development, planning and strategic execution of the Society’s award winning provincial Peer to Peer Fundraising events such as National Cupcake Day for SPCA’s and Humane Societies and the Friends for Life! Walk

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing all aspects of the Society’s Provincial Peer to Peer Campaign functions, including developing and executing provincial strategies and project timelines
  • Manage and update event content, prizing, digital participant e-communications and stewardship through deploying emails and managing constituents (participants and donors) experiences and outcomes
  • Experience with Blackbaud/Convio’s Luminate and Teamraiser platform
  • Campaign website updates, developing and updating digital and print marketing materials with Research incentive programs for participants for the peer to peer programs like the Walkathon and Cupcake Day or other programs as they are developed and launched
  • Manage and steward relationships with new and existing Provincial Campaign Sponsors to assist with their ‘in-house’ or customized fundraising programs that support the Ontario SPCA and/or its affiliated communities
  • Working with provincial 3rd party vendors to develop & deliver ‘best in class’ program/campaign print & digital assets to allow for ease of stakeholder use and success .
  • Providing guidance and support to the Provincial Education & Animal Centre’s (PEAC) Community Development Coordinator on implementing community fundraising driven special events including premiere events like the PEAC Friends for Life! Walk and GTA Cupcake Day events
  • Post Campaign analysis identifying key metrics and strategy for future provincial campaign roll-out and delivery to Ontario SPCA Animal Centres and Affiliate Communities across the province
  • Provide guidance, support and coaching for  Animal Centre Managers regarding Peer to Peer fundraising
  • Build registration web sites for all Animal Centre’s March Break Camps, Future Vet Summer camps as required
  • Develop and deliver other specific campaigns and/or projects assigned throughout the year
  • Further develop key identified markets in Ontario with the delivery of campaign events in these markets
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years experience in coordinating or managing Provincial or National Peer to Peer Events, preferably with experience using Blackbaud (, Convio –Luminate Teamraiser)
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle competing deadlines, respond promptly to a variety of requests to various stakeholders and team members both internal and external
  • Proven project management experience with superior organizational skills
  • Preferred college and/or university degree or an equivalent combination of education or experience; post-graduate certificate in event planning, fundraising or public relations an asset Demonstrated execution abilities with a proven track record of successful special events
  • Commitment to superior customer service and donor/community relations and inter team communications and relationships
  • Proven communication skills (verbal and writing) and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, to be part of a team, to be responsive and to meet deadlines
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Experience with complex databases and strong MS Office skills
  • Experience in Adobe Suites considered an asset
  • Valid Ontario Drivers License

Registered Veterinary Technician – Ontario SPCA Centre Veterinary Hospital

1 Year Contract Position – 40 hours per week

As a Registered Veterinary Technician, you will be responsible for assisting the staff veterinarians with all aspects of surgical procedures and treatment and assisting with general clinic operations. You will also be responsible for the care of animals housed in the hospital and the general cleanliness of the hospital and other duties as required.

Candidates require previous employment experience in a veterinary clinic, including surgical experience, and have strong animal care knowledge. Successful applicants will have exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, and be looking for a fast-paced, energetic, teamwork environment.  Uniforms are provided.  Candidates must have own transportation and be able to work flexible hours including occasional Saturdays. Candidates should have no allergies affected by ongoing exposure to animals

Manager, Human Resources

Full Time Position – 1 Year Contract Position

POSITION SUMMARY

HR Generalist to support and promote the HR policies and programs of the OSPCA covering the full spectrum of HR practices with an emphasis on health and safety initiatives, training, employment and performance management practices

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists Director, Human Resources in developing, implementing and monitoring HR programs and initiatives
  • Advises and assists managers and employees on interpretation of HR policies, procedures and programs
  • Qualified under the Occupational Health and Safety Act to sit as a qualified member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Develops, monitors and revises health and safety policies and programs to ensure compliance and to promote a health and safety philosophy throughout the organization
  • Conduct s job hazard analysis, physical demands analysis and enhances and encourages safe work procedures
  • Ensures compliance with provincial occupation health and safety legislation, workers’ compensation, WHIMIS and applicable recognized standards
  • Assists Managers with return to work plans as needed
  • Acts as a resource and provides advice in the areas of training and development, recruitment and selection, and employee data management
  • Provides training to enhance comprehension of HR policies and programs
  • Provides support and objective guidance to employees and Managers in a variety of HR functions
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data and prepares a variety of statistical and reports
  • Conducts exit interviews with employees
  • Ensures that OSPCA adheres to all legislative requirements in its HR practices
  •  Promotes and maintains the utmost integrity and the highest caliber  of customer service and respect for employees of OSPCA
  • Other duties as may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent
  • 3 or more years experience as a Human Resources Generalist
  • Working knowledge of provincial legislation on employment and health and safety legislation including AODA
  • Proven interpersonal, organizational and communication skills(written and verbal capabilities)
  • Proven training and coaching skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated recruitment and hiring experience
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and to manage and impart confidential information
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities and work with minimal supervision
  • Experience with  Microsoft Office and HRIS

Intermediate Accountant

Full Time Position – 40 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY

A member of the Finance department, this position performs general accounting duties and provides support to the month-end, year-end and budgeting processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs basic accounting, AP and AR duties
  • Assist in the month end process through the preparation of journal entries
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for the bank, revenue, AR and other balance sheet accounts;
  • Maintain continuity schedule for fixed assets, prepaid, etc;
  • Prepare AR invoicing, follow up and collections for receivables;
  • Prepare government remittance (ie: HST/GST tax returns, AGCO gaming report);
  • Compile schedules and working papers for the year end audits;
  • Provide support in the preparation of the annual budget;
  • Performing AP function, which includes vendor payments, expense reports and petty cash reimbursements;
  • Prepare AP invoices for approval and data entry into financial system;
  • Verify that AP transactions comply with financial policies and procedures;
  • Co-ordinate regular cheque runs to ensure timely payments of invoices;
  • Prepare JV for AP coding adjustments and month end accruals;
  • Monthly reconciliation of AP Account;
  • Maintain updated vendor files;
  • Resolve any discrepancies with respect to vendor invoices;
  • Provide insight for continual operational and IT improvements for the finance department
  • Support the CFO, Director of Finance & IT and other members of the finance team as required;

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years experience in a similar finance position
  • Enrollment in an accredited post-secondary education accounting program
  • Preference given to candidates working towards their professional designation
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision is preferred
  • Strong Excel skills and proficient with other MS Office applications
  • Exposure to fundraising software is a benefit (ie: Raiser’s Edge);
  • Detail orientated and strong analytical skills;
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to change, and multi-task;
  • Must be a team player;
